Construction Manager

Location: Kailua, O'ahu, Hawaii

Construction Managers are responsible for the oversight of the local construction region. They oversee and work closely with the Project Coordinator, Foreman & Master Electrician to insure systems are installed efficiently, on schedule, under budget, and meet RGS quality standards while providing excellent customer service. They also work with the Operations Manager to analyze key performance metrics and identify areas of improvement to ensure regional goals are meet for the Company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service

  • Create work environment that promotes communication and team work

  • Insure that projects are moving through the process quickly

    • Always looking for ways to reduce cycle time and increase accuracy

  • Meet or Exceed Company Revenue Goals to ensure profitability and grow business in the region

  • Insure crews have a consistent flow of work

    • Keep regular contact with Project Coordinator to ensure Schedule will meet monthly goals.

    • Ensure delivery of materials is properly coordinated

    • If Projects are delayed or finish early the CM works with the Foreman to best utilize the construction crews

    • Assist with Small commercial projects as needed

  • Ensure proper job Closeout in SFDC within 24 hours of substantial completion

    • Upload all required job docs and pictures

    • Review pictures and check quality of installation

    • Refer to Foreman or Quality Control Inspector if any installation issues are identified

    • Enter correct actual end date, insure date matches date on commissioning form

    • Check “Commissioning form uploaded” box and “Substantial Completion form uploaded box”

    • Enter Monitoring type if not done and if using Enphase enter Envoy #

    • Enter any notes from crews about the job needed for inspection

    • Ensure job reports are filed for Headquarters and Customer Service

  • Collect Progress checks from crews and hand in to Project Coordinator to send to Accounts Receivable

  • Complete field review of all jobs in assigned region within 24 hours of receiving task

  • Create job packets with 2 sets of plans, permit, and Stamped Plan set, and all necessary documents[BB1]

  • Give Safety tool box talks to crews in safety meetings once a week.

    • Review job issues, problems, near misses, and accidents

    • Cover that week’s tool box talk topic

    • Review any safety concerns on upcoming jobs

  • Coordinate contracting of subcontractors prior to job starting to keep production calendar on track

  • Make sure inspections are being taken care of in a timely manner after job completion

  • Send job updates through Chatter to insure anyone who’s interested can find the current status

    • This includes in progress updates, delays, substantial completion, inspection schedule, and inspection completed

    • Include any delays or issues that other team members would want to know

  • Perform Safety Audits on crews

    • Make sure they are following all safety guidelines

    • Discipline crew members for safety violations

    • Make sure safety equipment is correct and in working order if not, order new equipment

    • Order and issue safety equipment to new hires

  • Keep close communication with Foreman or Electricians about issues with jobs failing inspection

    • Communicate issues back to Foreman and installation crew

  • Keep vehicles clean and make sure crews are doing a vehicle inspection report on a regular basis and reviewing expiration dates of any vehicle documents

  • Commission Enphase systems in the Ready to Build stage prior to the start of construction

  • If service coordinator needs help completing a service case work with the Project Coordinator to fit it into the schedule

  • Responsible for delegating emergency service calls

Essential Qualifications:
  • 5 years renewable energy experience (Solar)

  • Experience leading an installation crew

  • NABCEP certification preferred

  • Excellent communication and time management skills

  • Ability to use a computer including ADP, Concur, SalesForce, Microsoft Office

  • Attention to detail

  • Great communication skills

  • Positive team spirit

  • Can handle frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

  • Works long hours when necessary to reach goals

  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment

  • Use time efficiently

  • Observes safety and security procedures

Physical Demands:
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and hands and arms to reach.

  • Employee must frequently stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Employee must occasionally use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Exposure to work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
